Project Details

Castle Ragtime Company began as a ragtime music publisher but eventually evolved into a platform for ragtime music, history, and culture. In order to connect with new audiences, Castle needed to appeal to more than just ragtime enthusiasts. This meant the brand had to feel contemporary and energetic without abandoning its old-timey roots.

The resulting brand and website are inspired directly by ragtime-era music publishers and prints. The website relies heavily on proprietary scans of Victorian sheet music covers to fill the screen with color and help users look back in time. The content and layout are designed to guide curious new visitors as well as service more knowledgeable ragtimers.

Publishing Sheet Music

Castle's sheet music publications are directly inspired by the original ragtime-era firms. This means in addition to typesetting all of the music consistently, each piece is also published with a decorative cover page.
